SM Abdullah Al Mamun

Mamun has an interdisciplinary academic background in environmental management and geospatial sciences. His research lies at the intersection of environmental health, climate change, urbanization, and spatial epidemiology, with a particular focus on low- and middle-income country contexts. At BRF, he contributes to the design and implementation of population and community-based studies, integrating geospatial analysis with quantitative public health methods. His technical expertise includes GIS and remote sensing applications for urban analysis, environmental exposure assessment, and disease mapping, using platforms such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, and eCognition. He also has extensive experience in digital data collection and management using REDCap, KoboToolbox, and SurveyCTO, and contributes to statistical analyses for peer-reviewed publications.
Mamun has co-authored multiple articles in international scientific journals covering topics such as urban expansion, environmental health risks, infectious disease dynamics, and excess mortality in Bangladesh. In parallel with his academic research, he is an active science communicator, regularly contributing evidence-informed commentary to national media and environmental platforms. Through these efforts, he aims to bridge the gap between academic research, policy discourse, and public understanding of environmental and public health challenges.
